Why do you keep specifying going forward/moving forward? What other direction can they possibly affect?

I still think Guentzel has an outside shot. He may be the most gifted (outside of Sheary) of all of the possible LW options.

I don't know why LW is such a mystery. Pens don't need one! They have enough options to platoon and be very effective.

What the Pens could really use is a RW for Geno. While I do believe Rust is a solid option, Rust can play both LW & RW.

If it were me, I'd move Fehr to dump space, then sign Vrbata to a one-year $2.5M deal. Sprong should be ready to go next year.

I'd still be all over trying to get Vesey, if his cap bleeds over into next year...who cares...that probably means he played well + Kunitz/Duper/Scuds will be off the books.

I still feel like Cullen will sign somewhere mid-August. I think the Penguins told Cullen they might get Vesey and can't afford both. Just guessing, and maybe wishful thinking...but it makes sense.

If anyone still hasn't seen the All Access Showtime series, it's available on Roku for free this weekend.

That was excellent, I have it on google drive, and when I get bored I watch it. The Pens Cup dvd is pretty good too, I don't like that they edited out the profanity, though I understand why. Lots of good stuff on that dvd too.

Keep in mind.. Eventually Pens will trade fleury... When they do, the return may be a young winger either left or right..

Dis I like.
Finally someone who understands the duo of Guentzel and Sprong present the best upside as far as the Pens forwards

Young winger? Jean-Gabriel Pageau + pick for Fleury?

MAF isn't worth Pageau and a pick IMO. That is too much for Ottawa to give up. Not a smart play for the senators.

Considering Anderson will be 36 very soon (When his deal expires), I bet they'd be interested In Fleury. I think he's worth Pageau.

It's kind of strange that Cullen hasn't signed with anybody yet. Offers must all be low. I can't imagine anybody increasing their offer now.

I know it's not the case, but I'm hoping Ruth told him they are taking a run at Vesey and will let Cullen know after his decision has been made.

Vesey wouldn't be a terrible gamble, but I just don't don't think he's going to live up to the hype.

My guess is he's going to be another Kevin Hayes.

Ya but they aren't going to take on his salary. They do need a goaltender

I'd take Killorn.

I'd rather go after Nyqvist. Is Mantha any good?

Ha! So you did. That will teach me to not back read.

I can't think of any reason why we haven't signed Cullen unless he's waiting around for Minny. And, Minny is waiting around for something else.

They're not going to trade a promising top-six player like Pageau. Pageau has all the makings of becoming a legit 2nd line/high-end 3rd line center in this league. Maybe a perennial 20-goal-scorer.

Ottawa unfortunately has limited resources in which to part with. Everything of value for trade is not something they can afford to move.

About the only thing they could afford to move at this point is Anderson.

I don't see them being match, but if they were, I'd do the following:

TO PIT: Craig Anderson (50% retention by OTT)
TO OTT: MAF + 3rd round pick

I'm sure Ottawa fans would have problems with that proposal. The 3rd round pick is compensation for the salary retention.

Also, the only other caveat is whether or not Andersonn would HAVE to be protected in the draft? If so, he's no use to the Pens.

@Barnaby36: Ottawa isn't moving Pageau, that's for sure.
